These packs are made up of a series of different work sheets that have been chosen to address the individual needs of the student. Each section is labelled so that its use is quiet clear.

The student should work on the pack for approximately eight to ten weeks and then the pack needs to be evaluated and a new pack put in place. A follow up appointment will be sent with each pack; however it is not necessary for everything to be completed. Equally if a student completes all the work before the time then the centre will send out a top up pack.

It is very helpful if parent or tutor could add comments to the sections as they work through them. It helps us to know whether something is hard or easy or if a student likes or dislikes working in a particular way. It is not necessary for the student to attend each time, although we would need to see the student once a year to retest and evaluate progress.

Students usually complete the pack with the help of a teacher at school, a private tutor or with the parents. Often there is a combination of helpers as packs can be split between school and home. The centre welcomes contact at any time and someone will always be available to explain the purpose or requirements of any section.

The student should do at least one hour per week, this can be at one time but it is usually better if the time can be split into two forty to forty five minute sessions. Some younger children would be better working for shorter periods to allow for their weaker concentration.

Each session should be made up of work from more than one section. Do not finish one section before starting another unless this has been specified. Try to balance the work so that there is some hard work like spelling but also some that seems more like fun like word searches.

Sections will include work on different aspects of Reading, Spelling, Creative Writing and Perceptual skills like Auditory or Visual Memory.

Cost is initially €120; subsequent packs can vary from €50 to €90 depending on the requirements of that particular pack. Costs include the discussion time, the evaluation of pack and the materials needed for the next pack. A deposit of €60 is required for the first pack; the remaining amount will be invoiced when the first pack is sent out.

The individual nature of each pack is very important and initially this will be based on an assessment of Literacy and perceptual skills. It is important for us to see where a student is making mistakes so that this area can be addressed; consequently we need to know more than just the scores of a set of tests. Therefore if the student has an assessment completed by a school or Psychologist we may need to add to this with our own assessment.
